Japan holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I feel the most creative and at peace. I know in recent years it’s been overwhelmed by tourism, and it makes me sad to see visitors not respecting the country’s way of life. A small part of me worries that one day Japan might close itself off again, and I wouldn’t blame them.

I’ve been three times now, with a fourth trip planned for the end of 2025. At this point, Japan feels like an ongoing project—somewhere I spend a fair amount of time. 

Thank you, Japan, and to the people of this beautiful country. I’ll see you again soon.
